To continue to ensure a robust safety focus, we seek a Safety Specialist to facilitate, oversee, train and document our safety operations.
Our new Safety Specialist will bring construction industry knowledge of administering and documenting safety programs, with a learning-oriented approach and process-driven mindset to assist us in our continued growth. Responsibilities include:
Safety Policy and Compliance
- Participate in the development of EHS policies, including the OWWC safety manual
- Participate in OSHA and third-party compliance reporting (for example, Avetta)
- Conduct in-person and remote safety audits and investigate incidents, recommend retraining as needed
- Implement approved safety recommendations from the Safety Committee
- Ensure employees and subcontractors have valid certifications, comply with customer safety, safety training and safety standards, track and store certification records
- Travel as required for safety, with potential overnight stays up to 25% of the time
- (jobsite audits and the installation of safety systems)
- Participate in in-house investigations of close call, near-miss events and job-related injuries.
- Participate in creating required construction and safety plans
Safety Equipment and Resource Management
- Participate in Monitor, and manage safety equipment, PPE, rigging equipment, and job site tools, ensuring all field employees are appropriately equipped
Additional responsibilities
- Participate in recruitment, hiring, and termination processes, aligning with company values
- Provide back-up as needed for Director of Safety and Development
- Attend and participate in weekly monthly Safety meetings
- Provide weekly safety topics to be distributed to OWWC.
- And all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Qualified candidates will have 4+ years of Safety Industry experience, preferably in the construction industry or other high-risk work environment where employee safety saves lives. A strong aptitude for documenting, managing and maintaining information is required. OSHA 30, BBP, RF, First Aid/CPR, climber/rescue, MEWP, Equipment Practical’s, and DOT Medical Card preferred. Valid Driver’s License, required. We seek candidates interested in personal and career development, with strong organizational and detail skills and intermediate skills in MS Office and related technology. Availability for approx. Up to 50% overnight travel, required.
