The Accounting Assistant position is located in Shakopee, MN, Non-Exempt, FULL Time, Days, Monday-Friday. This position will work in conjunction with the Accounting Manager to execute projects in accordance with corporate policy.  

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Review vendor invoices and record in accounting system
  • Record all credit card transactions; reconcile credit card statements
  • Enter all invoices that are Cash on Delivery (COD)
  • Act as timekeeping and customer invoicing back up
  • Record all employee expense reimbursements
  • Record all Certificates of Insurance (COI) and W-9s
  • Prepare and submit Sales and Use Tax for multiple states
  • Complete assigned monthly accounting review procedures
  • Serve as the receptionist for the office, greeting visitors and answering questions
  • Answer and route incoming calls take messages as needed
  • Sort incoming mail and deliver to appropriate individuals
  • Process outgoing mail
  • Maintain office supply inventory and order supplies as needed
  • All other duties as assigned

Job Requirements:

Office employees work in person and in front of a computer screen throughout the day. This position requires reading, writing, and communicating in writing, verbally, by email and on the telephone. In addition, office employees must be able to bend, stretch above their head, reach, squat, and lift up to 25 lbs, and use general office equipment. Work is performed in a well-lit, temperature-controlled environment.

  • Working knowledge of bookkeeping practices
  • Acute attention to detail and a commitment to performing work accurately and timely
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Exceptional organization and time management skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a busy office setting
  • Proficient with Microsoft office and related software
  • Accountable to all work responsibilities, including regular attendance and meeting deadlines

Required Education and Experience

  • Minimum of one year of experience in accounting and clerical functions
  • HS diploma or higher preferred
